EVENTS IN THE TENT is an all abilities integrated workshops project to develop skills for active participation in the Yandina Street Festival. It involves, students, families and local community groups and artworkers in a series of performance and arts activities. Combined this year with the Queensland 150 year celebration the community will embrace the theme "reflect on our past, and imagine our future … Green".

In preparation for the Yandina Street Festival Parade, workshops are being held at Yandina Community Centre over the 2 weeks leading up to the event. Learn the crafts & skills of community art, & prepare to experience all the excitement of the fair.
Quality facilitators will guide you in a variety of fun themes. Want to learn how to make & play instruments from recycled material? Maybe there's a clown in you that just needs some coaxing to escape? Or perhaps you have a passion to paint the town red? Oh, and the workshops are FREE!

Check out the workshops on offer & go on, have a go. As part of Queensland's 150 year celebration, this year is going to be a whopper. Be a part of the fun & join your community to show the whole shire what Yandina has to offer. AND, as an added extra, we anticipate an entertaining "after schools program" to stem from Events in the Tent for the future.

Outcomes from the Events in the tent program include Butterfly lanterns, planting & dancing projects, music, clowning and street theatre from our participant community students. And much much more. Colourful textile banners will also be a reflection of the theme to go by foot … with imprints … echoing our intention to continue to be upheld as a significant low carbon footprint community.
